Understanding the Belem Brazil Weather Conditions

One of the busiest ports in Brazil, Belem is also a big city (the 10th largest in Brazil) housing millions of inhabitants. Belem, Brazil, has undergone many developments over the years, and with many big and modern buildings and skyscrapers around, it has become a tourist attraction.

There are many things you can see in the port of Belem — art galleries, food kiosks, cafes and restaurants, ice cream shops, a theatre and a small beer factory, among others.

If you are planning to go to Belem, it is important that you know some bits and pieces of the Belem Brazil weather conditions first, so you will know exactly the things to pack for your trip, and the best time to do it.

The Belem Brazil Weather

Belem, as you must know, is located in Brazil, a tropical country. As such, you can expect the weather conditions in Belem to be hot — extremely hot. The average temperature in Belem is around 26 degrees Celsius, and even during the colder months of February and March, the average temperature does not fall below 24 degrees.

Humidity is at its peak in Belem; it also rains a lot there. In fact, it rains almost every day in Belem, with the wettest period running from January to May.

Pre-scheduled Rainfall
Strange as it may sound, the rainfall in Belem seems to happen on a pre-scheduled time, that is three o’clock in the afternoon. If you want to have a tour of this beautiful city, you can pre-schedule your trip, as well, so you will not get stranded in the middle of rainfall!

Stuff To Bring For Your Trip To Belem

Whenever you go on a trip, you are always advised to travel light. That means, don’t bring your whole house with you!

Taking into consideration the Belem Brazil weather conditions, it is recommended that you pack and wear light clothing for your trip. Also, it is a must that you bring an umbrella or a raincoat with you. This is something that will not take much of your luggage space, anyway. It is advisable, too, that you take with you bottles of water, as the humidity in Belem can dehydrate you considerably. Aside from that, do not forget to pack your moisturizer and sunscreen, and keep an Aloe Vera gel handy. The hot and humid weather in Belem can dry and burn your skin, so you must need something to nourish, protect, and soothe your skin.

The Best Time To Enjoy Belem

The best time to visit and enjoy Belem is on the second Sunday of October because this is the time when the Cirio de Nazare (Virgin of Nazareth) Festival is celebrated. This religious festival is the biggest festival in all of Brazil, attracting thousands of people in the country.

It is a great relief, then, that this festival is celebrated in October, the driest month in Belem, because with hardly a rainfall during this time, people get to join the parade, and participate in the dancing and merrymaking, and of course watch the magnificent fireworks display that follows after.
