Copacabana: More of an attraction than a neighborhood

The classic disco song that contains the name of this famous place was a big hit. And yes, the place itself is actually a big hit as well. Copacabana, a name which is originally Bolivian, has been a word of mouth among tourists. It is located on the Southeast coast of Brazil.

Like Puttanesca, Copacabana has a little bit of everything. With its small location, distances are not too long to walk. Everyone is assured to have all the fun they want through the Copacabana Brazil attractions.

The beach

Copacabana Brazil attractions boast of its major and most famous in the world: Copacabana beach. It is situated at the heart of the famous place Rio de Janeiro. Some may consider it a simple neighborhood with great spots. But, perhaps, to the world it is considered to be a great Copacabana Brazil attraction. The place has a beach with half moon shape. It is called Princesita del Mar. It’s one of the many spots the place boasts.

The story behind the Place

The place has a variety of legends. It is said that in 1858, suspected whaled were seen and some nobles and an emperor came to see it. Hundreds of people were reported to have waited for it as well. The wealthy sector of society in Brazil at that time also went to Copacabana to see the whales. They put up tents for comfort. That was the start of the population increase in the place they say.
There were significant events that placed the spotlight to Copacabana. One was the construction of the Túnel Velho, formerly called Túnel de Real Grandeza. Another event that paved the way to the fame of Copacabana was the opening of the palace in the year 1923. It reflected an image of glamour. It romanticized the view of the place along with the beautiful beach. More hotels and structures to further enliven Copacobana were built one after another.

Some more attractions

There are a lot more attractions in the attraction itself.
Hotels and resorts offer leisure such as aquatic sports. It includes skiing parachuting, fishing, or even sailing. There are available boats and kayaks that anyone can rent. Tours are also available. There’s day tour to Isla de la Luna and Isla del Sol. In the afternoon, tourists can enjoy the crafts shops around the place and check out some souvenir items.

Other landmarks include Horca del Inca and the Cerro Calvario. Horca del Inca allows people to have an oversight of the main streets from the mountaintop. Cerro Calvario or the Calvary Hill has small monuments which represents the Stations of the Cross. It would be nice to take shots every monument.

Indeed, Copacabana has a number of tourist attractions. No doubt it’s popular worldwide. It’s one of the best places to visit.
