Curitiba Brazil Travel
October 16, 2008 – 7:04 amTouring around Brazil wouldn’t be complete without taking a stop at Curitiba, Brazil. A capital of Parana, this city emerged to be a gold-mining camp in 1693. The city is now composed of more than one million inhabitants which used to be just 140,000 in the year 1940.
Known for its high standard of living in the areas of health, public transport system and facilities, and education, Curitiba Brazil travel can be really worth it. Aside from the fact that it safe to roam around even at night, the city has a number of gardens and parks as well.
Roam around the streets of Curitiba
Walking around during your Curitiba Brazil travel would make up some of your best experiences. The streets of this city have a wonderful mix of world cultures including Brazilian culture. The restaurants around also reflect this characteristic.
One of the most awesome cafés or restaurants to visit during your Curitiba Brazil travel is Lucca Café Especiais. It has been a consistent favorite in the city for four years already. They offer meals you can truly devour. Their place also provides a relaxing ambience. Try their coffee! It has a great Brazilian and Italian blend.
Streets less traveled
Perhaps the best way to describe the streets of this city is that it’s very simple yet pragmatic. The entire public transportation is solely composed of buses. But there’s no monotony at all since they have a variety of bus types with their separate functions. First-timers are not really advised to drive their own vehicles during their Curitiba Brazil travel. Their streets have numerous restrictions in parking and pedestrians. They have many streets that are exclusively one-way. And they have wide sidewalks which is good news to those who love to walk.
Note that the other parts of Brazil envy their public transport facilities. So it’s something one must experience while in the city.
Must-see gardens and parks
At Botanic Gardens, witness the carpet of flowers, the metallic structured greenhouse, and the water fountain among many others.
Craving for barbeque? Go to Barigui Park—considered to be the most commonly visited park. They have available gym equipment, restaurant, tracks for model airplanes and cycles, and playgrounds.
Do you want to go somewhere filled with local folklore and art? Visit Curitiba Memorial. They have installations that are creatively done in an irregular land.
Experience the beauty of Barreirinha Park in 6010 Anita Garibaldi Avenue. Their display includes cinnamon and Paraguay tea plants. There’s a green area in this park that serves as an air regulator to the region’s air quality.
Getting there
To get to Curitiba, a bus ride will do. But air travel is also very possible since this city is considered to be a major city in Brazil among others. Rental companies are also available.
People with personal vehicles can travel from São Paulo by taking the BR-116 South route. From Porto Alegre, the route to be used is BR-116 North.
The train ride would not directly get you to the city but it goes to the ocean coast of Parana State.
